Common questions
How do I download a whole season?
Open the page with the episode list in DOWNLOAD IT and tap Get all. Every episode is lined up with its title and artwork; untick any you don't want, then tap Get all episodes.
How do I download a file?
Open a page in DOWNLOAD IT. When it finds a video or files, a chip appears; tapping a download link also opens the download sheet. Choose a size if there's more than one, then tap Download.
How do I lock DOWNLOAD IT with Face ID?
Settings › Privacy › Lock with Face ID.
Can I search inside my PDFs?
Yes. Search finds names, #tags, kinds and the words inside your documents.
The chip didn't appear. What now?
Tap the hand in the address bar, then touch the video player. Some players only load their video once it starts, so play it for a second and try again.
Where do my downloads go?
Into your Library, sorted by type: Videos, Audio, Images, Documents, Spreadsheets & Presentations, Archives, Apps & Code, and Other. Search by name or #hashtag.
How many files can download at once?
Up to ten. Choose 1 to 10 in Settings › Downloads. The rest wait in line and start automatically.
Do downloads keep going if I leave the app?
Yes, downloads continue in the background and resume on their own. You'll get a notification when a video is done.
How do I save a video or photo to the Photos app?
Open it in your Library and tap Save to Photos. Formats Photos doesn't support are converted on your iPhone automatically first.
Can I save just the audio from a video?
Yes. Open the video and choose Save as Audio. You get an .m4a file in your Library.
How do I add my own files to the Library?
Import from Files or Photos, send files to DOWNLOAD IT from other apps, or drop them into the DOWNLOAD IT folder in iCloud Drive.
What is a Blurb?
A collection for any kind of file, with your own cover photo on the front. Make one from the Library, then drag files onto it.
Why can't I download from some sites?
DOWNLOAD IT never downloads from protected streaming services or encrypted (DRM) content, out of respect for creators and those services' terms.
How does iCloud sync work?
With iCloud sync on, your Library appears on every iPhone, iPad and Mac signed in to your Apple Account. Make sure iCloud Drive is on in Settings › your name › iCloud.
How do I allow ads on a site I want to support?
Tap the shield on the left of the address bar, then turn on Allow ads on that site. The page reloads with its ads.
Do I need the HUSH app too?
No. HUSH ad blocking is built into DOWNLOAD IT's browser and included with Pro. The separate HUSH app is only for blocking ads in Safari: hushblocker.app.
How do I clear my browsing data?
Settings › Browser › Clear Browsing Data. Choose the last hour, today or all time.
Can I change the search engine?
Yes, in Settings › Browser › Search Engine.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Open DOWNLOAD IT and tap Restore on the Pro screen, or go to Settings › Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account you bought with.
How do I cancel my subscription?
On your iPhone, open Settings › your name › Subscriptions › DOWNLOAD IT Pro › Cancel. You keep Pro until the end of the current period.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Is there a page to test downloads on?
Yes. Open downloadit.app/try in DOWNLOAD IT to try a video, a stream and a few files.
